Environment Design- of the Devil
I am very proud to say that I am one of two environment artists for Nth Circle’s flagship game, of the Devil. As part of a 4 person team, I work as the primary 3D artist and an Environment Artist, collaborating with the Art Director, Director, and the 2nd Environment Artist to create concept art of environments, build out scenes, unwrap models, texture, and light scenes. I joined the team during the production of Episode 1, so certain scenes that I completed had varying levels of blocking out, but for scenes such as the city street and the autocab, I had free reign to design them from scratch .
My process for each episode is to read the script, get a feel for the mood of the scene, then plan out my base structure and lighting setup to match what our writer is calling for. After building out the foundation for the environment, I then model any custom models we need for the scene, such as buildings, robotic arms, walkways, etc. and unwrap and texture those pieces. I then focus on the lighting, making sure that it evokes the tone of the writing. I work closely with the writer and other environment artist, collaborating on environments and receiving feedback and implementing those changes.
Created using 3DSMax, Photoshop, and Unity. Various textures and props provided by Unity Asset Store.
